Singapore Pavilion at ITB Berlin / ITB Asia

The design of the Singapore Pavilion at ITB Asia embodies and celebrates Singapore Tourism Board’s new branding “Passion Made Possible” through a compelling crystalline spatial experience. Rethinking the traditional tourism trade show pavilion, the structure combines live performances, design installations and artist showcases, which weave together Singapore stories into a multi-sensory experience.

Viewed as a standalone structure; one sees the pavilion as a form in pixelated layers, which are gradually revealed as intricate patterns on approach. Taken as an individual module – the form is defined by the use of steel lattice and cut-out patterns, which combine to create a structure that appears to grow. Underpinning these spaces, suspended greenery hangs beneath the lattice portals, fusing epiphytes, lithophytes and ferns into a sensory display that allows visitors to experience Singapore’s unique biodiversity. Mirrored acrylic reflects this greenery expanding the perception of space for the booth’s exhibitors.

The roof and column structures utilise modular connections allowing complete flexibility as the structure adapts to different sized spaces as it travels around the world. A Stage, Maker-Bar, Makerspace and Passion display tables allow visitors to explore a variety of work from local Singaporean creatives. The curated artists span multiple disciplines, from the performing, visual and literary to culinary arts and landscape design, reflecting the Passion Pillars of Singapore Tourism Board’s branding.
