Windsor Nature Park

2017 / Singapore / NParks

A 75-hectare secondary forest rich in biodiversity, Windsor Nature Park is part of a series of nature parks being developed to serve as green buffers to the Central Catchment Nature Reserve. Zarch Collaboratives has been tasked to take a sensitive approach into developing the park into an attractive and enriching location for the public to enjoy the natural environs while learning about the plant and animal life in the area.
In addition to new, sustainable office spaces, a series of trails and boardwalks at different elevations and forest biomes were also designed, allowing low-impact access to the lush, but often fragile surroundings. Sustainable materials, like recycled concrete and more resilient glass-fibre reinforced concreted (GFRC), and green strategies like green roofs and solar power, are employed throughout the facility and trail. Combined with water-sensitive urban design features such as constructed wetlands, these strategies contribute to a considered and considerate approach to development.
