Located in the breezy Mountbatten district and sited in front of a lush green park, the concept for the house was derived from a graphic parti of the building as a box-like aperture overlooking the park, allowing the outdoors to permeate the house in numerous ways. This motif continues in a distinctive leafy graphic print which creeps up along the side and top of the house, creating a shading device and privacy screen. Natural light and ventilation is introduced to the volume through the use of skylights and voids. Detached from the shared party-wall, the monumental quality of the house is emphasized as an isolated object overlooking the park – a volume of stillness perched quietly above the open plain of greenery.
